Introducing Petrolheads Welcome: Car-friendly venues for Petrolheads
‘Petrolheads’ Definition = Anyone obsessed with enjoying travel in motorised vehicles… no matter what fuel they use!
Even if you have only a passing interest in cars, the chances are that you own at least one and do your best to keep it in reasonable condition. After all, if you look after it, it will look after you… or at least that’s the theory.
Petrolheads take this a few steps further. They often enjoy driving older vehicles (classics, vintage or even veteran cars) and all of the home maintenance that was routine when cars didn’t have computers. According to the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, there are over 1 million registered historic vehicles and about half of them are registered for road use. There is also an enormous supporting industry of garages, parts, memorabilia, events, tours, etc. It’s that last aspect that interests us most here at Beacon Hotel.
For most users of classic cars, their main concern when booking a place to stay for a weekend away or as part of a tour is that their car is parked ‘suitably’. That means easy access, a good surface, wide spacing, maybe an opportunity to clean the car and perhaps to work on it. Whilst ‘non-Petrolheads’ may look on in horror, classic car drivers actually enjoy tinkering in the car park after a long drive before settling down for a relaxing glass of something.
With all that in mind, Petrolheads Welcome is a web portal designed to help Petrolheads find venues ‘that their cars would enjoy’.
Naturally, the Beacon Country House Hotel features on the site and was indeed one of the founder listings when the site launched in 2018. As you may know, we have a great car park and we welcome car clubs or individual tourers. We also love to see Aston Martins, Jaguars, Ferraris, etc. on our car park… as do many of our guests.
“Petrolheadswelcome.com website has been built by car lovers for car lovers”,
said Director, Andrew Fawkes.
“Five of us came together to build the website following many shared drives in the UK and abroad. The planning effort required to organise a European road trip is considerable and sometimes off-putting. Not anymore!”
Fellow director, Paul Gerring, added
“Whether you’re a lone traveller or a club organising a tour, you can be sure that the venues on Petrolheadswelcome.com are suitable and welcoming of your custom.”
Andrew concludes:
“The website is free to join and free to use, so if you’re a Petrolhead, you’ll enjoy discovering great places to take your car… like the Beacon Hotel!”
